Meta beach, also known as Alimuri, is one of the widest and sandiest on the Sorrento Peninsula, a characteristic that makes it particularly suitable for families with small children. The seabed slopes gently, allowing children to play safely in the water.
This beach is well equipped with numerous bathing establishments offering umbrellas, sunbeds, showers and toilets. You will also find several dining options, from restaurants to bars serving quick snacks.
Why it is perfect for children: The sand is ideal for building castles, and the calm, shallow sea several metres from the shore guarantees safe swimming even for the youngest children. Many establishments organise entertainment activities for children during the high season.
How to get there from La Terrazza Family Holidays: You can take the Circumvesuviana train to the Meta stop (only one stop from Sant’Agnello) and then walk for about 10 minutes, or use the local bus.
Beach type: Pebbles and platforms
Services: Bathing establishments, catering, equipment hire
Accessibility: Accessible by lift or stairs
La Marinella is the closest beach to La Terrazza Family Holidays, located right in Sant’Agnello. Although it is a pebble beach with artificial platforms, it is an excellent choice for families due to its proximity and the numerous services offered.
The beach complex is equipped with several sunbathing platforms, seawater swimming pools (some specially designed for children) and easy access to the sea. The establishments offer all the necessary amenities, including restaurants with children’s menus.
Why it is perfect for children: The seawater pools are perfect for children to swim in safety. From the top of the cliff there is a spectacular view, and access to the beach by lift is convenient even with pushchairs.

Beach type: Mixed sand and pebbles
Services: Bathing establishments, fish restaurants, kayak hire
Accessibility: Accessible by car or local bus
Less well-known to international tourists, Puolo beach is a small jewel located in a sheltered bay a few kilometres from Sorrento, in the Massa Lubrense area. It is a mixed beach of sand and pebbles, with a more authentic and less crowded atmosphere than other locations.
The water is crystal clear and shallow for a good stretch, and the small fishing village surrounding the beach offers several restaurants where you can enjoy fresh fish at reasonable prices.
Why it is perfect for children: The natural inlet protects the beach from currents, creating a calm stretch of water ideal for safe swimming. Older children can have fun exploring the side rocks or taking a kayak trip.
How to get there from La Terrazza Family Holidays: By car, follow the signs to Massa Lubrense and then to Puolo (about 20 minutes). Alternatively, take the EAV bus to Massa Lubrense and ask the driver to stop at the junction for Puolo, from where you continue on foot for about 10 minutes.
Beach type: Pebbles
Services: Bathing establishments, famous fish restaurants, boat hire
Accessibility: Accessible by car or tourist bus
Marina del Cantone is a beautiful bay in the hamlet of Nerano, at the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula. Although it is a pebble beach, the incredibly clear sea and excellent facilities make it an ideal destination for families seeking a more authentic experience.
The beach is famous for its restaurants specialising in pasta with courgettes, a typical Nerano dish, and for being a starting point for boat excursions to the nearby Bay of Ieranto and the Amalfi Coast.
Why it is perfect for children: The sea is generally calm and the bay protected. Children love jumping from the small rocks on some parts of the beach or exploring the seabed with mask and snorkel. In the bay it is also possible to hire pedal boats with a slide, an activity that is always popular with children.
How to get there from La Terrazza Family Holidays: By car, follow the signs for Massa Lubrense and then for Nerano (about 35-40 minutes). During the summer there is also a tourist bus service connecting Sorrento to Marina del Cantone.
Beach type: Reef with small cove
Services: Limited, picnic area
Accessibility: Path downhill, not suitable for pushchairs
Regina Giovanna Bay, also known as Bagni della Regina Giovanna, is a natural swimming pool formed by a lagoon of crystal-clear water protected by a cliff. It is located in an archaeological zone where the remains of a Roman villa stand.
This is not a beach in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a natural place of extraordinary beauty where older children can enjoy an unforgettable adventure.
Why it is perfect for children: It is a true paradise for children who love to explore. The natural lagoon forms a saltwater pool perfect for safe swimming. The more adventurous can jump (with supervision) from the surrounding rocks. The area is also ideal for snorkelling and observing marine life.
Note: This location is recommended for families with older children (6-7 years and up) due to the rather challenging access path. There are no facilities on the beach, so it is necessary to bring everything you need, including drinking water.
How to get there from La Terrazza Family Holidays: By car, follow the signs for Capo di Sorrento (10 minutes). Park in the dedicated area and walk down the path to the bay (about 15 minutes’ walk).
Ideal times: To avoid the hottest hours, visit the beaches early in the morning (8:00-11:00) or late in the afternoon (after 16:00), especially in July and August.
