Events in Sorrento in 2019
The planning of the cultural events organized by the Fondazione Sorrento for 2019 was presented in the splendid setting offered by Villa Fiorentino. The busy schedule of events, ranging from great artistic events to music, from traditional crafts to local traditions, without forgetting the Campania food and wine.
The first events will take place in February when there will be the third edition of the pictorial exhibition “SORRENTO IN ARTE” created by the Associazione Pittori Sorrentini. The collective will remain open to the public from February 2 to February 27, with free admission.
During the days 2, 3 and 4 March will be held the XVI edition of the “EXHIBITION OF CAMELIA“, and will be curated by the Garden Club Penisola Sorrentina. During the exhibition days, plants from the gardens of the Sorrento Peninsula will be exhibited, as well as numerous potted camellias. The last day will be dedicated to school children. Admission is free and free.
From March 9 to April 6 there will be the anthological painting exhibition by Nico Taminto entitled “IN THE SIGN OF MAN – A RULE OF ART“. The works realized in 50 years of activity will be exhibited. Free admission.
From 10 April to 1 May, the exceptional artisan excellences of the Sorrento Peninsula will be on display during the “MANU FACTUM” event. The associated artisans of PenisulArt will each bring their own piece to represent all the sections: crib art, violin making, jewelery, fashion, ceramics, ceramics, inlay, cabinet making, metallurgy, poor art, artistic glass, photography, sewing, painting, modeling and shoe making with sandals. Free admission.
From 3 to 6 May there will be a three-day event dedicated to “THE ART OF TEXTILE AND EMBROIDERY“, an exhibition curated by the “La Sirena a r l” Cooperative, chaired by Carmela Scala, in collaboration with the “Il Punto Sorrento” Association. Free admission.
From May 11th to June 9th the third edition of the “Syart FESTIVAL – SORRENTO LOVES ART” is scheduled, the event is dedicated to artists from all over the world, and is held annually. The last edition registered the participation of no less than 32 artists representing 5 nations.
From 15 June to 17 October, the cultural event of greatest interest on the Sorrento Coast will take place during the summer-autumn period. The headquarters of the Sorrento Foundation will host the exhibition “HENRI MATISSE – ILMAESTRO IN SCENA“, which will be exhibited in the rooms of the splendid villa located in Corso Italia, over 90 works that retrace the 35 years of the great French painter’s career Henri Matisse. Particular attention is paid to the impression that the artist gave to the theater and to high-impact creations. Entrance to the exhibition is subject to charges.
From December 1, 2019 to January 6, 2020, as usual the last part of the program will be dedicated to the most magical party of the year with “CHRISTMAS IN VILLA FIORENTINO“, with many rich novelties to make everyone live the emotion of Christmas.
