Terminated the Matteo Pugliese exhibition, Marc Chagall – The colors of the sun – Villa Fiorentino – Sorrento – On Saturday, 2017 July 15, the opening of Marc Chagall’s paintings exhibition entitled “Colors of the Soul” was held.
The works of the Franco-Belarusian artist are exhibited in the 10 rooms of Villa Fiorentino, the splendid home of the Sorrentine Foundation, Italy.

The event, strongly endorsed by the president of the institution, Gianluigi Aponte and the managing director, Gaetano Milano. It is realized with the support of the municipal administration led by Mayor Giuseppe Cuomo and in collaboration with the Imago Art Gallery of Lugano.
The visitor will have the opportunity to admire in the heart of Sorrento an extraordinary collection of pictorial and graphic works. Carefully selected to illustrate the artwork, complexity, vastness and multiplicity of topics addressed By one of the greatest artists of the last century.

Villa Fiorentino will be exhibited in 120 works, including 20 masterpieces made of various techniques. From oil to canvas to gouache on paper, from colored pencil drawings to china on masonite inks.

 As a compendium of this most important piece of pictorial works, three cycles of lithographs and etchings will be joined together for a total of 100 graphic works.
No matter how difficult it is to draw up a ranking of relevance, the exhibition’s hub will undoubtedly be represented by four large works that will be in chronological order.
Cruche aux fleurs, oil on canvas dating from 1925, is an iconic work of the master’s research on the floral themes that will accompany him throughout his life.
Russian village, oil on canvas of 1929, a stingy tribute to the poetic memory and at the same time realistic of the native country of the author.

Coq Violet dating from 1966 to 1972, a mixed technique (oil, gouache and china on canvas). Considered among the most representative works of Chagall’s entire production in his full artistic maturity.
The homme rouge à la casquette, dated 1976. It is also a mixed technique, that is, oil and gouache on canvas, in which they overlook and mix dear themes to the master like animal subjects, and subtle religious themes.

A compendium of this selection of original works. There will be a multimedia area where some of the wonderful multicolored ecclesiastical glass windows; made by Marc Chagall will be shown and animated.

The exhibition is open: From 16 July to 31 August from Monday to Friday from 10 to 13 and from 17 to 21 – Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 10 to 13 and from 17 to 22.
In September every day from 10am to 1pm and from 5pm to 9pm.
From 1 October to 15 November every day from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm.
The exhibition will close on November 15th

The whole ticket is € 5; Reduced ticket of € 3 for groups of more than 10 people.
Last entry 30 minutes before closing
