When it comes to destination weddings, Italy is a really popular choice amongst couples, and for so many reasons. Whether it’s a romantic wedding in Venice or a cute ceremony in Tuscany – Italy has a lot to offer couples.

One of the most incredible locations in Italy to get married is the popular town of Sorrento. Located in the south of Italy, Sorrento is within easy reach of Naples and Pompeii and overlooks the Bay of Naples with the Mount Vesuvius, which is a truly beautiful sight in itself.

Getting married in Sorrento

Set high above the Bay of Naples, home to lemon orchards providing the fruit for the city’s famous Limoncello, Sorrento’s beautiful location has drawn visitors for centuries.
Sorrento town is the gateway to the Amalfi Coast, you can see near to the Island of Capri, while Mount Vesuvius and Mount Faito make a dramatic frame to the red-roofed houses rising up from the Bay of Naples sea.
While there are three locations which allow civil ceremonies, you’ll still be spoiled for choice if you’re planning a wedding abroad in Sorrento.
The medieval Cloister of St Francis are the most popular, the monastery building dating back to the 13th century while summer weddings can take place outdoors in the beautiful gardens.
Or the Museo Correale still has antique furniture decorating the luxurious 17th century villa as well as a citrus grove and ancient trees giving shade in its gardens.

For sea views as you say your wow, head 10 minutes out of the centre of Sorrento itself to Piano di Sorrento at Villa Fondi, a 17th century clifftop villa which looks out onto the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, with olive trees and palms in the botanical gardens – you can also hold the ceremony on the panoramic terrace and indoors, along with the gardens themselves.

Thanks to its vacation rentals, family houses and luxurious hotels, some with kids clubs and rooftop terrace, Sorrento is also a great base whether you’re travelling as a family, looking for plenty of pampering or seeking some nightlife.
Also head out to the hills, where you’ll find elaborate reception venues and villas to escape to.
